In his masterful One Battle After Another, Paul Thomas Anderson (Magnolia, There Will Be Blood) sketches an absurd, explosive and hilarious vision of contemporary America. Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn make an appearance in a story that combines sex, weapons and power in a surrealistic way.

The film first follows a young black revolutionary in a chaotic love triangle, then jumps forward sixteen years to focus on Pat (DiCaprio) and his daughter as they navigate a polarised society full of bizarre conspiracies and colourful characters.

Loosely based on Thomas Pynchon’s Vineland, One Battle After Another offers a mix of satire, action and heart, with unforgettable scenes and visually stunning moments. A hilarious and at the same time moving trip through the American landscape of violence, which you have to experience in the cinema.
