NW at international film festivals
Films developed with the support of NW continue to circulate internationally. This spring and summer, several recent co-productions are being presented across biennials, festivals and independent cinema platforms, reflecting the diverse trajectories through which moving-image works encounter new audiences and contexts. Congratulations to all artists and partners involved.
JOY BOY: A Tribute to Julius Eastman was selected for the Forum section of the Berlinale, Berlin International Film Festival. Conceived as a collective homage to the composer and activist Julius Eastman, the film brings together six artists in a constellation of sonic, choreographic and cinematic responses to his life and legacy.
Permanent Trespass by Basyma Saad and Sanja Grozdanic has been selected for the International Competition of the 37th edition of FIDMarseille. The new film receives its world premiere in Marseille this June.
Femmes d’Agadez by Eva van Tongeren was recently presented at Art Cinema OFFoff in Ghent. Building on earlier encounters with a women’s collective in Agadez, Niger, the film continues Van Tongeren’s long-term engagement with collaborative filmmaking and feminist image-making.
