Kitchen Stories – WAKA Cinema

with Mama Bolingo and Mammy Sylvette

Bolingo is a word from the Lingala language, spoken in Congo, and it means ‘love’. Mama Bolingo is committed to making a positive impact. Her non-profit organization helps people navigate our society in terms of integration, health, and education. For Mama Bolingo, the kitchen is also a place for meeting, exchanging, and discovering.

Cameroonian Mammy Sylvette is a woman with a golden heart and a lot of humor. Anyone looking for good company, a heartfelt conversation, or just some cheerfulness can turn to her. Cooking is a celebration, and that celebration includes banana beignets, the African version of doughnuts.
