In A Bunch of Hysterical Women (Bandes d’hystériques), Kita Bauchet and Melissa Moens delve into forgotten television archives to bring the feminist wave in Belgium during the 1970s back into the spotlight.

Using rare footage from sources including VRT and RTBF, the film reconstructs a period of action, imagination, and collective struggle. From the playful provocations of Dolle Mina to the French-speaking movement Marie Mineur: A Bunch of Hysterical Women reveals a network of activism that was surprisingly transnational and united.

With humor as their weapon and imagination as their strategy, feminists took to the streets to protest inequality in the workplace, sexist norms, and the reduction of women to their appearance. At the same time, the film exposes the structural discrimination that was ubiquitous then and still lingers today.

A pivotal moment is the International Tribunal on Crimes Against Women in Brussels, where testimonies of violence and inequality were shared—an event that nearly vanished from collective memory due to a lack of coverage.
