During a multi-day hiking trip in nature, a divorced father, his 17-year-old daughter and an old friend become increasingly entangled in mutual tensions and silent grief. In her unerring debut film Good One, director India Donaldson shows how discomfort, hurt and generational differences slowly bubble up beneath the surface of a seemingly innocent holiday trip.   

With a beautiful, understated performance by Lily Collias as the keenly observant Sam, and convincing performances by James Le Gros and Danny McCarthy, a subtle but poignant portrait of failing fathers, simmering tensions and quiet growth unfolds. Amidst the pine forests and campfires, a painful but also compassionate experience emerges — a film that leaves much unsaid but makes all the more palpable.
