Romería is a semi-autobiographical road movie by Spanish director Carla Simón, in which a young cinephile, Marina, sets out to discover her parents’ unknown past along the rugged and glittering coast of Galicia. Between family visits, sailing trips and intimate encounters with relatives, she discovers both the hidden sides of her parents and the fragile boundaries of acceptance within her family.

With a warm, tactile style and a subtle blend of memory, diary excerpts and playful magical realism, Simón explores how memories, identity and missed connections intersect. Romería is a tender, visually rich journey about family, loss and finding yourself among the echoes of the past.
