With Sirât, Oliver Laxe (Fire Will Come) delivers a hallucinatory and nerve-racking road movie through a desert-like no man’s land. Between rave parties, military threats and a father’s search for his lost daughter, a film unfolds that defies the laws of genre and narrative.  

It begins as a disappearance drama with techno music, which gradually transforms into a biblical journey of trials, in which community, mourning and survival clash with the limits of humanity. Laxe drives his characters – and us – further and further into an apocalyptic universe, where the bridge between heaven and hell proves to be paper-thin.
