Vagabond (Sans toit ni loi) (1985) is one of Agnès Varda’s most radical and uncompromising films. This portrait of a young woman living outside social norms does not follow a conventional narrative but unfolds through a series of encounters, impressions, and fractures. The film moves between fiction and documentary, giving voice to multiple perspectives, each offering their own—often contradictory—view of Mona. 

Varda refuses to explain or tame her protagonist. Mona remains elusive, sometimes confrontational, sometimes disarming, but always autonomous. Vagabond is not a romantic tale of freedom, but a sharp reflection on how society observes those who refuse to conform and what it means to carve your own path.
