Babeth Mondini-VanLoo

Babeth Mondini-VanLoo (1948, the Netherlands) is a media artist, filmmaker and producer working across

documentary film, experimental cinema and media-based practices. Emerging from the countercultural and punk scenes of the 1970s and 1980s, her work explores the intersections of music, performance, spirituality and social engagement through montage, archival material and direct documentation. She studied painting and design in Aachen before studying performance and sculpture under Joseph Beuys in Düsseldorf, and later obtained an MFA in Film from the San Francisco Art Institute.

MondiniVanLoo has directed and produced more than forty films and video works. In 1980, she founded the production company Film Art Amsterdam, and between 2000 and 2013 co-founded and served as programming director of BOS, the first Buddhist television station in the Western world. In 2005, she founded the International Buddhist Film Festival Europe in Amsterdam.
