Mawena Yehouessi

Mawena Yehouessi is a curator, searcher and artist. Inspired by afrofuturism and Black studies, she co-founded the collective Black(s) to the Future (2015) and loves to work in teams. Currently finishing their PhD on collage at the Villa Arson and Université Côte d’Azur, M/Y’s practice takes multiple shapes. From producing exhibitions to filmmaking, critical writing to spoken poetry, translation and contemporary dance, etc. They have collaborated with Spectre Productions, 72nd Berlin International Film Festival, Germany; Triennale Art & Industrie de Dunkerque, France; Beursschouwburg, Brussels, Belgium; Fondation Pernod Ricard, Paris, France; HEAD – Genève, Geneva, Switzerland; Congo Biennale, Kinshasa, DRC; ENSA Paris-Malaquais, Paris, France; Brook Publishing, Paris, France; Contour Biennale, Mechelen, Belgium; Black Portraitures III Conference, Johannesburg, South Africa; Centre International de Poésie Marseille, France; Collège International de Philosophie, Paris, France – amongst other people, stories, epistemologies, scales and sites.
