The film club presents ‘Paris, Texas’ by Wim Wenders, in which dreams, heartbreak, and a place to pick up where you left off play an essential role. This 1984 film is a visual adventure that transports you to the vast landscapes of the American Southwest.

Photography is provided by Robby Müller, from desolate deserts to neon-lit motel rooms, where every shot feels like a work of art. Colours play a key role in the film’s narrative in this regard.

The film is driven with Ry Cooder’s music, with his recognisable slide guitar sounds, adding an extra layer of emotion and making the story compelling. Together, image and sound enhance the harmony of the film.

NW FILMCLUB

For several years, NW has had a film club. A group of young Aalst residents who watch and discuss films together. Recently, Aalst-based filmmaker Crispin Yanisi became the club’s driving force and the theory is being put into practice. Together, they make films and programme films they would like to see. The group’s first choice is Wim Wenders’ iconic Paris, Taxis. Beforehand, they will give a small introduction about why they chose this film.
