In Resurrection, Bi Gan depicts a world in which dreams have been abandoned out of fear of deathOnly a few – the dreamers – continue to dream and are therefore hunted down. The film follows one character who moves through different times and spaceswith each episode evoking a different way of seeingremembering and experiencing

In five chapters and a breathtaking long take, Bi Gan explores how cinema can preserve, distort and transmit dreams: as a refuge, as memory and as a shared experience. Resurrection is thus a film about the necessity of dreams – and about cinema itself as the ultimate space of escape, desire and collective imagination.
