With Jackson Yee, Shu Qi, Mark Chao
China – 2025 – DCP – 160′
(VO) Mandarin spoken, Dutch/French subtitles
The film starts at 8 p.m.
In Resurrection, Bi Gan depicts a world in which dreams have been abandoned out of fear of death. Only a few – the dreamers – continue to dream and are therefore hunted down. The film follows one character who moves through different times and spaces, with each episode evoking a different way of seeing, remembering and experiencing.
In five chapters and a breathtaking long take, Bi Gan explores how cinema can preserve, distort and transmit dreams: as a refuge, as memory and as a shared experience. Resurrection is thus a film about the necessity of dreams – and about cinema itself as the ultimate space of escape, desire and collective imagination.
